Senator Heidi Seevers Gansert
Nevada State Senate, District 15
Heidi was elected to the Nevada State Senate in 2016, representing District 15. Heidi served as an assemblywoman in the Nevada State Legislature from 2004-2010 and was the Assembly Floor leader from 2008-2010. Heidi then served as chief of staff to Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval for the first two years of his administration.
Making Nevada’s schools safe and increasing access to healthcare are two top priorities for Heidi. Specifically, she passed legislation to implement the SafeVoice program that serves as an early warning system for dangerous activities at schools and school events. She also passed legislation to stop “passing the trash” whereby school-based child predators were allowed to resign and work in other school districts because of a lack of accountability. Heidi passed legislation to increase behavioral health services for autistic children and, during the 2021 session, Heidi sponsored legislation to increase awareness and access to testing for the potentially lethal Breast Cancer (BRCA) 1 and 2 genetic mutations.
Heidi has four children, ages 22-28. She holds an MBA from UNR and a B.S. in engineering from Santa Clara University.
